FAIRY TALE

A married couple in their early 60s (man-62yr old, woman 60 yr old) were out celebrating their 35th wedding anniversary in a quiet, romantic little restaurant.

Suddenly, a tiny, yet beautiful fairy appeared on their table and said, "For being such an exemplary married couple and for being faithful to each other for all this time, I will grant you each a wish."

"Oh, I want to travel around the world with my darling husband" said the wife.
The fairy waved her magic wand and - poof! Two tickets for the Queen Mary II luxury liner appeared in her hands.

Then it was the husband's turn. He thought for a moment and said: "Well, this is all very romantic, but an opportunity like this will never come again. I'm sorry my love, but my wish is to have a wife 30 years younger than me."

The wife, and the fairy, were deeply disappointed, but a wish is a wish...So the fairy waved her magic wand and - poof! The husband became 92 years old.

Men should remember...fairies are female.

p.s: have a nice laugh, don't stress to much, there's more to life than just living it :)

‎"知足常乐". Happiness lies in contentment.

As the chinese saying goes, ‎"知足常乐", happiness lies in contentment, when we are content and grateful with what we have, then only we will be happy. If not, we will end up pursuing something that has no end, meanwhile forget to live our life with the ones we loved.

Being contented doesn't mean we stop pursuing excellence in each and every aspects of our lives, it just simply means that we are contented with what we have achieved so far after we have put in our best efforts, preparing ourselves for a better tomorrow.

For me,

I am grateful that i have a place to call home,
families that loved me dearly and friends that i can count on,
faculties and intellect to aid me in making wise decisions,
physical appearances with no imperfections so that i can contribute better to society,
feelings and emotions for me to feel what others are feelin',

I am grateful that i AM grateful and contented with my life.

So, how contented and grateful are you with your life?

"The Eskimos had fifty-two names for snow because it was important to them: there ought to be as many for love." -- Margaret Atwood

How the animal kingdom helps to keep us healthy

From the humble snail to the fearsome shark, the animal world is an unlikely - but ever-increasing - source of medical solutions to our health problems. Here are just some of the creatures that scientists have discovered can help us...

GREEN-LIPPED MUSSELS
A compound found in green-lipped mussels called eicosatetraenoic acid is now being used to treat joint pain. The joint-healing properties of the mussels were first noticed more than 100 years ago by Maoris in New Zealand. Research later found the compound has anti-inflammatory actions which can be more potent than painkillers. Available as a pill called Regenovex (£29.99, www. boots.com).

SHARKS
A molecule from shark cartilage called chondroitin can help fight joint pain and arthritis, by helping to make cartilage elastic, as well as blocking enzymes which break it down. Chondroitin also helps the body produce new cartilage. Supplements may also prevent the progression of osteoarthritis.

COWS
Collagen - a protein that connects tissues in the skin and muscles - sourced from cows may ease joint pain by helping to lower substances in the blood known as rheumatoid factor and tumor necrosis factor. Bovine collagen gathers in joints, stimulating the cartilage cells to produce more collagen. Available in supplements such as Flexeze Fortify (£29.95, www.goldshield. co.uk).

STAGS
The growing part of a stag's antlers, known as deer velvet, may relieve joint pain. Researchers at the University of Alberta discovered that nutrients such as calcium in the velvet could reduce inflammation and make human cartilage more elastic. Available as a supplement. (£28, www.velvet energy.com).

SNAILS
The healing powers of snail slime on skin and broken bones was discovered by snail farmers in Chile. The deposits contain substances such as allantoin, collagen and elastin which are used by the snails to repair their shells. Available in a gel form in products such as De Tuinen Snail Gel. (£20.45, holland andbarrett.com).

SILKWORMS
Silkworms produce the enzyme serrapeptase, which can digest inflammatory tissue or dead tissue in humans. A study by the German State Hospital in Ulm investigated the effect of serrapeptase on postoperative swelling and pain. Patients who received the treatment experienced a 50 per cent decrease in swelling in the three days after surgery. Now available in supplements such as Solaray Serrapeptase, (£14.99, www.nutricentre.com).

SHINING BACK

At times, even the Sun's brightness is overshadowed by clouds.
Why can't yours?

However dark and dense the clouds may be, Sun will shine back. And it will shine the brightest.
Why can't you?

DiGi iPhone 4 Play

DiGi iPhone 4 Play

Hmmm...before i start writing on any cool iPhone Apps, allow me to take all of you back track 15 years in time where wooden houses, free-range chickens, cows and old metal bicycles were still the most common things in town.

I was around 10 years old that time. My brother and I used to lie down on the green grass field and stares at the starry night sky, listening to the clear crickets chirping and feels the gentle night breeze brushing through our cheeks. We will starts counting stars, making silly animals out of it, naming some of them for us, some for our family members and friends and wait for a shooting star to pass by. Under the awesome night sky, it felt like the universe is a big playground with no end and the more deeper you stare at it, the deeper it will grow. When its near bedtime, grandma will always come with a cup of hot tea for each of us, before bringing us back and tugging us all in bed.

That was 10 years ago. As the years go by, I have more knowledge about astronomy. I learnt about different positions of certain stars that would appear at a given time. It's amazing to know all these, but when given a star chart for me to hold in my hand, I just simply can't fit the whole big universe of stars into that piece of paper.  In the end, I can only manage to find those few that are easiest to spot, and the rest, "well, maybe there are new stars that haven't been discovered anyway", was my explanation for myself. And when computer came about, starry night sky watching seems to be one hobby that I have packed into a box and stored it carefully at some corner of my heart, without even knowing it.

After starting university life, this little hobby of mine seems to pop out again, because it let me re-live all my childhoods memories and bring me a sense of warmness in my heart. It felt like my parents, brothers and grandma are really just a blink of an eye away. As I am watching the stars right now, they might be too, and I bet I can see their smiles blinking together with the north stars shining brightly in the sky.

So, here I am now, still studying far away from home. I don't own, nor have i touched an iPhone before. But after browsing some of their Apps, one that strikes me the most is the "Star Walk"

When I saw this App, the first thing that popped in my head was "is this even possible? man, this is way too cool!". From the review, this amazing App is able to label stars, constellations, ecliptic, cardinal directions and galaxies just by pointing the camera at the back of the iPhone towards the beautiful night sky. One can even zoom in for more informations on a certain star or planet and bookmarked it for future visit! What's even cooler? This App has a time machine to show the movement of night sky at any preferred time and date, and also a location selector that will show you the night sky from different location.

How I wished I had an iPhone equipped with this "Star Walk" App 15 years ago, browsing through the night sky, finding for stars of amazing names, planets and how they look like, where they are, how far are they from our Earth, and many more.

It would be like telling a bedtime story to ourselves every night before we sleep, and the best thing is, this story on top of us never ends!

Coloured glasses (Spec berwarna)

Coloured glasses

What is wrong with this world?
Why do people behave like this?
When does all this started?
Where did all the virtues go?
How can we fix this?
Who   ........    is to blame?

Is there any good in condemning others?
Just to bring yourself a step higher?
All you will achieve is two friends
stranded and hurt, drifting apart further.

Are we suppose to act this way?
Cursing and hating others everyday?
We are all children of God,
and in His eyes, equal will we all stay.

When one begin to speak ill to others,
it will starts a chain reaction.
People will be shooting at each other,
and believe me, it will pass down through the generations.

Veils of misconceptions and seeds of hatred
have been sown deep down all the way.
But if we are pious and steadfast enough,
weeding those off, there are no other easier way.

Knowledge and skills aren't gender-biased,
nor they prefer any race i believe.
All that counts is hard-work and will
to ever pursue for excellence day by day.

Language and race won't be a barrier,
if we treat others with love and respect,
we are all sisters and brothers,
with one heart beating the same.

Good deeds have to be coupled with pure intentions,
so that its praiseworthy in His sight.
What more if you are condemning God's creations,
Planting hatred and promoting fight?

So what can we do now to curb all these?
First, take off our coloured glasses,
burn away the veils of prejudice,
and start treating others with a sincere heart.

Without those coloured glasses,
you will find that we are not
so different
 from one another afterall.

So, let me ask you now.

are you still

viewing the world

with your COLOURED GLASSES on?

(p.s: this poem was written in reply to a lecturer's half-an-hour comments, i don't know whether he is playing the racism issue cynically, hypothetically, or just for fun, but i don't agree with what he has said. Giving out negative comments like that in an open class (no matter what your intention is), you have no control on what you are spreading to your pupils, how they might interpret what you said, and what is the consequences you might have on their minds, you might as well "faning" this issue indirectly. So, to all of us out there, if you are against racism or any kinds of prejudices, don't, DON'T approach it negatively, we as humans are endowed with intellect,
adorn your words with kindness and love, that will TOUCH the hearts of others )

BREAKING NEWS: A teacher died a month after giving birth due to left-over cotton wool in womb

How could negligence like this occurs in our country? you might say that to err is human, but 2 pieces of cotton on both side of the womb? How is that possible
She complained pain 3 hours after giving birth, why have to wait until 5 days to operate and extract out the leftover cottonwool? 5 days!! all kinds of bacterial and viral infections already occurred by then....i thought accidental leaving external objects in body of patient is serious matters, if it was me, i would demand for immediate removal on the spot!! 5 days......even my bacterial culture can grow to its maximum population in less than 5 days, what more in a well incubated, body-temperatured secure womb?

is it negligence? is it arrogance? is it self-righteousness? is it the system at fault? the hospital? the operating doctor? the helping nurse?

i'm utterly speechless.......

DiGi iPhone 4 Me

DiGi iPhone 4 Me

Stumbled upon this on nuffnang homepage, and yeah, this sure prompted me to read on further :). hmmm, i am required to write something on "DiGi iPhone 4 Me", and here it goes.....

iPhone, an indispensable gadget for today's city dwellers, businessmen, officers and even university students like me. Why?

First of all, look around us and the pace we are going everyday. People are communicating in every possible seconds, be it though voice call or via sms texting, on the street, in the bus, at home, cooking, drawing, meeting, babysitting, whenever and wherever they are, communication nowadays have been inseparable with today's lifestyle. Phone has become a bridge connector for us and the people we loved, and i can't stand living without it, even for just a day.

Second, have you ever wished to carry a map, dictionary, currency converter, accelerometer, mp3 player, laptops, camera, video camcorder all on you so that just in case any occasion arises, you have just the right tool for that? I am not sure about you guys, but sure i wished i could. Suddenly lecturer popped out an unknown question, where to grab a dictionary? Travelling overseas, at least you can convert and count you money before shopping, and with a mobile map, getting the where you want to will not be a problem at all. Going out for a walk and stumbled upon an amazing scene, without a camera in hand, all you can do is register that in your mind, and slowly let it fade away without having the privilege to share to anyone. So, when all these are packed into one single thin square box, isn't is convenient enough for all of us? At least, it is well sufficient enough for me as a student :) (and i just CANT wait to have my hands on the 5-megapixel camera of iPhone 4).

Third, the compatibility of it makes life way easier as well. In the Mac world, everything that starts with an 'i' connects seamlessly with each other, iPhone, iPod, iBook just to name a few. Its like having one big family who just have different abilities individually, but agrees unanimously. I liked it :) .

Fourth, the "all-knowing" internet. With DiGi's package bundled together with an iPhone 4, internet is less than a stone-throw away. Update yourself with the latest news within seconds while you are on the move, reply emails and send pictures to all around the world when you are busy, or reply thank-you wishes for those heart-warming wishes u get on social networks when you are sick. On the other hand, for a student like me, browsing for informations and data is a troublesome task, especially when you have to queue to use the internet in the common room. So, having a phone that does this as well, will really safe me a lot of precious time and energy.

Enough about iPhone, now lets move on to "Why i want an iPhone 4 from DiGi".

Well, this is an easy one :P. DiGi has been in my life for more than 7 years now, and i am still loving it, with all my heart and soul if i could :). It has accompanied me through a lot of ups and downs, through my stpm, degree, and now even studying master program together with me! DiGi has connected me to my loved ones, friends and family members while i study oversea (i am from Sabah, so studying at university in peninsular is considered as oversea, at least for me, hehe). Millions of thanks to DiGi again!

Frankly, i have never in my life bought or sign-up for anything that requires me to sign any contract (except ptptn loan i think, lol). But having a peek in the price offered by DiGi (http://www.digi.com.my/iphone/getone_want_iphone.html),   its really affordable, especially when it goes down to as low as rm58 per month!!!! Its a tremendously wonderful news for student like me! I wished so badly to own this superb gadget, so it would really mean a lot to me if DiGi can pampered me with an iPhone 4 (hoping so badly, hehe).

You can want an iPhone4 for many other reasons as well i presume, but for me, i  WAAANNNTTTT an iPhone 4 and i LOVE DiGi.....as simple as that  :)

With an iPhone 4 and DiGi in hand, no dreams are too far-fetch to be true :)

p.s: will pray hard every single night for this iPhone4 dream to come true :P

27 Facts about Guys

To all the girls out there, this is something about us :)
Do see us from our point of view too, hehe

the Girl Effect

The powerful social and economic change brought about when girls have the opportunity to participate in their society.

WHY GIRLS?

Because when adolescent girls in the developing world have a chance, they can be the most powerful
force of change for themselves, their families, communities and nations.

But while those 600 million girls are the most likely agents of change, they are
invisible to their societies and the world.

i liked this video, it portrays a very strong message, that equal rights of education girls is important in determining what a future world you wants, and that they play a more important roles, whether in educating the next generations, or assisting the society they lived in. Thank God Malaysia make it compulsory for all kids (be it boy or girl) to be educated in schools :)

so, for us guys, give them some respect, hehe......salute ya!

Mid-Autumn Festival / Mooncake festival

Tomorrow night will be Mid-Autumn Festival/ Mooncake festival.. It is celebrated annually on the fifteenth August of chinese lunar calendar. This festival is considered the second most important festival after chinese new year.
"For thousands of years, Chinese have related the vicissitudes of life to changes of the moon as it waxes and wanes; joy and sorrow, parting and reunion. Because the full moon is round and symbolizes reunion, the Mid-Autumn Festival is also known as the festival of reunion. All family members try to get together on this special day. Those who can not return home watch the bright moonlight and feel deep longing for their loved ones."

3 idiots

Watched an awesome hindi film yesterday, "3 idiots", starring Aamir Khan, Kareena Kapoor and a few others. And i had to say, this film is genuine, touching, and meaningful.

The movie started with three youngsters from different family backgrounds getting into a top engineering university. Here it showed us how the current learning and education system is. Rigid and conventional memorisation, definitions, and direct answers without critical thinking. And when someone answers the question from a different perspective, or a more simpler approach, they will be declined, as older lecturers only accept answers based on books. How many of us have encountered this? I could tell you, personally, i have. And it was just recently, in university, of master level. A lecturer of mine gave us a test that literally consists of questions asking you to spit out every single words from his notes into the test, incredible eh....and this is in university level. 6 essays, in 1 hr 30 min, amazing! Yes i know, it is important for us to know, but what do we know beside these facts, what is the implications behind these? You are not testing our knowledge on that field, you are testing our memorization skills, and with laptops and high-end mobile phones nowadays, it is still of that utmost importance?

This movie also highlighted alot of moral values. And one of the most important one that ran through the whole film is respect. First, is the respect of choices we made. Choices are suppose to be made by ourselves, as we are the one who will follow this path once the choice is made, parents, teachers and friends are there to give us advice, but once you yourself is the ultimate decision maker. Second, is the respect for knowledge. Knowledge can comes from anywhere, anyone. What makes a university professor a thousand times superior than the cleaner outside? Should there be class difference? treat everyone equally, don't misuse the privileged power rested upon you, if you are a professor, you gain people's respect, but don't misuse it and become arrogant, making decisions based on personal favors rather than true contributions.

Be humble, there is always something for us to learn from everyone that we have came across. Learn punctuality from the bus driver, love from the nurses, loyalty from your fellow friends, sacrifice and hardworking from the rubbish collectors, friendliness from the canteen lady who always put up a smile, dedication from your supervisor who is willing to spent his lunch time to see you, and many more.

This movie is really useful for all of us as we will be educators one day. You might turned out to be a teacher, a lecturer, a supervisor, a mentor, a trainer, and if none of these fits you in, surely one day you will be a parent for you kids. So, educate them well, let their imaginations run freely and most of all, tell them, do what they love to, so that their future profession, is also their passion. Then, you have carved in them an invisible map, that they would eventually reached their destination, without going astray.

"give me some sunshine, give me some rain, give me another chance, wana grow up once again" - from a song from the movie

Stay with me

Don't fall asleep too soon
The angels can wait for a moment

Come real close
Forget the world outside
Tonight we're alone
It's finally you and I

Time

Time

Remember when that
time use to pace together
with us leading in front
full of joy and laughter

we have made a pact
that there won't come a day
of sudden disappear
and the best of friends forever

but even words carved
on the stony grounds
will withers away slowly
by time, i have found

 those days are gone
and we drifted apart
now all left are empty
memories in each of our hearts

i wished i hadn't grasp
things too tightly like before
i should've leave some room
for me and you to soar

n now things i treasured most
 are slippin' gently through
the more i tried to hold
away, the faster they flew

everyone wants to cast
a permanent stop to time
and i wish that too
even a gentle pause would be fine

people say this is one
of life's long journey
that we must endured
i know, we all knew

but sometimes letting go
is not as easy as it seems
especially when it's slipping by
day by day without knowing

so all i can do now
is to wish for the best
that time really works its charm
and wash this all away

Whats wrong with eating TOO FULL?

What's wrong with eating too full?

Don't over eat and don't encourage your family members and friends to
overeat - unless you wish to shorten their healthy living and perhaps die younger!

An interesting article about eating too full....

In Today's Dr Lee Newsletter Issue:

"What's wrong with eating too full?"
==============================

"The more you eat, the sooner you die. The lesser you eat, the longer you live." This is what Dr Lee always says in his health talk. He also mentions, "Eating too full causes all sort of health problems such as hypertension, diabetes, stroke, etc."

Why eating too full is so harmful to your health? What can you do about it?

We Are ONE

Lately, news about racism in our country terrifies me, greatly. From the inconsiderate and insensitive songwriter, the selective and bluntly bold school principals, to the recently confused and tactless teenage girl's post. What has happened to our society? Where is our moral values from our upbringing? Has something went wrong with our society? Is cursing others something trendy nowadays?

I'm clueless.

Personally, i have NEVER expect things like these to happen, especially in our country.

The moral structure of our society is decaying fast. Where have all those beautiful religious teachings and family moral values went?

Race, is just a slight variation among us, a slight difference. Look at us, each and every one of us, how distinguish are you from the others? Look at your neighbours, look at your friends, look at the person staring at you across the road, how different are you from them? Yes, one might say, 'i speak a different language', 'i have different skin colour', 'i am of different descent', but when you take a step and look back at it, what can you see? Does different language, skin colour, of different descent really bothers you? Would you want all the people in the world to speak, look and think just like you? that would be such a dull world..

and yes, there ARE differences, some might argue. But how minute is these differences when we compared to what we have in common. We all have been blessed by God with faculties and talents, with the ability to make rational decisions, and the ability to care, love and share. We all manifest the same physical properties, have one heart which pump blood to our body, we feels pain when we are hurt, cry when sad, and laugh when we are happy. We care for our parents and friends, we feel compassionate to others, even to those we don't know, and we love, yes, we are able to love others, more than what organisms from animal kingdom can. We may talk different languages, have different skin colours, of different descents, but we all are human being, we are ONE.

Take a deep breath, and let me take you back to the time when you were small. Have you noticed that small kids, especially those toddlers that have just learn how to walk, smile happily when they saw another toddler around, regardless of what skin colours they have. They play with each other, smile, chuckle and laugh together like they have met each other before. Did they care that you are of different skin colour? Did they even bother to ask what language can you speak? and of cos, they don't bother where you are from either, that is the purity and sincerity of a child. There is goodness in each and everyone of us, it might have been hidden deep down somewhere in us, but there IS. Some might have it hidden deeper under veils of delusions and misconceptions passed on from generations,  some have uncovered the veils and found it earlier, some who are more pious might have found it with the aid from the Teachings from Above. Have you find yours back yet?

Religion. From what i believe, all great religions are from God. Religions sets a standard for all of us to follow, a standard to lift us up spiritually, so that we are closer to God. All great religions teach us to love one another, to care and help for the needy souls, to search within ourselves, never to forget the Power above, to respect each other and never ever to cause disunity among ourselves. How can one say that he is a pious religious follower when he starts condemning others, be it another religion, other race, or even another human being? What different is he then compared to those who aren't religious? What benefits actually does he or she gain from this act? What would this leads to? A greater chains of events like what we have seen currently. When one starts the racism ball rolling, more and more would be offended and continued along, when will these ends then? Have you ever ask yourselves? Or, should i ask, do you even want these things to end?

Prevention is better than cure. A wise man have once said " ....concentrate all the thoughts of your heart on love and unity. When a thought of war comes, oppose it by a stronger thought of peace. A thought of hatred must be destroyed by a more powerful thought of love. Thoughts of war bring destruction to all harmony, well-being, restfulness and content.Thoughts of love are constructive of brotherhood, peace, friendship, and happiness."  How true is this! Don't even let the thought of war and hatred set root in our hearts and minds, but in the opposite, concentrate our thoughts of heart on love and unity, then, and only then, peace is achievable.

One might argued back again, 'it's out of my control, it has already started, i'm just going along', well, if we eliminate the very thought of war and hatred from our hearts, it wouldn't even get to us, and we won't contribute to the worsening conditions of our society today. 'Concentrate all the thoughts of your heart on love and unity', let us all work together to build a better society for our future generations, than wasting our time and energy in these endless hurtful and destructive accusations. Isn't this a better use of your time and energy? All of us hope for a better place for our children, do we not?

All these are the different forms of prejudices. Prejudices based on race, ethnicity, religion, or social background. If we want a peaceful and just society, all these must be eliminated, thoroughly. It's tough, i know, but will the unifying efforts from each and everyone of us, i believe it's achievable, isn't it? After all, we are ONE. What is there to argue about? Eventually all of us will pass away, and do you want what you did in the past to keep on poisoning the future minds for generations to come? Are you willing to bear the consequences?

we will be the BEST of men if we can all strive for these qualities n virtues

Be generous in prosperity, and thankful in adversity.
Be worthy of the trust of thy neighbor, and look upon him with a bright and friendly face.
Be a treasure to the poor,
an admonisher to the rich,
an answerer of the cry of the needy,
a preserver of the sanctity of thy pledge.
Be fair in thy judgment, and guarded in thy speech.
Be unjust to no man, and show all meekness to all men.
Be as a lamp unto them that walk in darkness, a joy to the sorrowfull, a sea for the thirsty,
a haven for the distressed, an upholder and defender of the victim of oppression.
Let integrity and uprightness distinguish all thine acts.
Be a home for the stranger, a balm to the suffering, a tower of strength for the fugitive.
Be eyes to the blind, and a guiding light unto the feet of the erring.
Be an ornament to the countenance of truth, a crown in the brow of fidelity,
a pillar of the temple of righteousness, a breath of life to the body of mankind,
an ensign of the host of justice, a luminary above the horizon of virtue,
a dew to the soil of the human heart, an ark on the ocean of knowledge,
a sun in the heaven of bounty, a gem on the diadem of wisdom,
a shining light in the firmament of thy generation, a fruit upon the tree of humanity.

-Bahá'u'lláh-

A wonderful story of inner calmness and peace (don't lose a diamond while you are busy collecting stones)

k guys, my last post was to much pictures, i admit, so this time, i've decided to share something, that only comes 100% with words (and some wonderful virtues too), i think this story is a good one, and if each of us could reflect and practice this, our country would be less in pain (or at least we ourselves will be less felt hurtful, hahaha), remember, anger does not lead us to anywhere, the decision we made when we are angry, is usually the wrong one...... hope we all learn something from this amazing story :)

and here is how the story goes ..........
